Issue securities to an investor

To issue securities to an investor, they will need to exist in your register, and under the security to which they will be allocated. Otherwise, you will need to add them as a new investor.

Once the investor exists in your register and has been created under the applicable security, you can now issue those securities to that investor:

  1. From the menu, go to Transactions and click Issue securities.
  2. Select the Allotment type and the Security to be issued from the dropdown menu.
  3. Select an investor. You can choose from the dropdown menu, or type in the field to search by name, HIN or SRN.
  4. To issue securities for the application, specify the Settlement date.
    • If the application is for shares, you must specify the following:
      • Amount of securities to be issued. This specifies the total number of shares the investor will be issued and defaults to the number which they applied and paid for. It can be adjusted if required, however, to less than the amount (also known as “scaling back”) the investor has applied and paid for.
      • Cost per security in dollars and cents. The amount of securities to be issued is automatically multiplied by the cost per security to determine the total purchase price for the application. The total purchase price is displayed in the green box.
      • If the cost is under $1. please enter cost price in dollars and cents ie: 0.015
    • If the application is for units in a trust, you much specify the:
      • Total purchase amount. This specifies the total cash amount which the investor applied and paid for. It can be adjusted if required, however, to less than the amount (also known as “scaling back”) the investor has applied and paid for.
      • Cost per security in dollars and cents. The Total purchase amount is automatically divided by the Cost per security to determine the number of units which the applicant will be issued. This is displayed as the Total securities figure in the green box.
  5. Click the Next button to review the transaction on the Confirm transaction page.
  6. To execute the transaction, click the Confirm transaction button. The investor will receive an email notification with a holding statement attached, to alert them to the fact that they have been issued new securities.
  7. You can view the result of issuing the securities by going to the Capital Structure.

Additional Information:

  • You can download a copy of the investor's holding statement
  • As mentioned above, normally the investor will be notified of the transaction via email, however, if they do not have an email address stored in the system or have chosen not to receive statements via email, an email notification will be sent to the issuer or registrar (depending on how your profile is configured) containing an attached holding statement which can be printed and mailed to the investor to inform them that they have been issued shares.
